About This Report

This report outlines TECO Energy's financial, social and environmental responsibilities, successes and improvement opportunities for the corporation and its subsidiaries. It follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative, or GRI, which seeks to provide consistency among corporations reporting social responsibility. For ease of reading and navigation, we have attempted to follow the template outlined in the GRI guidelines as much as possible.

In general, the information is broken into the following four groups:

  • Performance
TECO Energy's senior management outlines our commitment to provide a sustainable future by delivering value to shareholders, team members, customers and the community.
  • Community
TECO Energy supports education, arts and culture, health and human services, civic and community initiatives through our operating companies and the TECO Energy Foundation.
  • Workforce
Providing "a company where people want to work" is a critical element to our sustainability.
  • Environment
Our business is to serve present and future customers by meeting their energy needs in the most responsible manner possible, with a focus on sustainability, cost-effectiveness and minimal environmental impact. For TECO Energy companies, being stewards of our natural resources means taking a leading role in activities and initiatives that protect and enhance the environment.

The major sections of our report were organized to highlight our constituents and our pledge to operate the company and its subsidiaries in a socially-conscious manner.

While the information in this report primarily highlights activities for 2012 through 2013, we also feature more recent information and historical data where it is relevant and helpful in showing trends. For this year's report, we have created this website with similar content from the previous year. We implemented a more robust data collection tool to improve retaining the information and traceability to GRI guidelines. There are no specific limitations on the scope of the report in relation to the GRI guidelines.
