TECO Energy certifies annual, quarterly and interim reports to SEC

TAMPA, August 14, 2002

TECO Energy today reported that CEO Robert Fagan and CFO Gordon Gillette have filed certifications of the company’s financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The certifications, which contained no exceptions, attested to the accuracy of the reports and were signed following a review by the Audit Committee of the company’s board of directors. Certified reports include:

  • Annual Report on Form 10-K
  • First and second quarter reports on Form 10-Q
  • All interim reports on Form 8-K
In compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, an additional certification was provided with the filing of the second quarter 10-Q with the SEC.

"I have complete confidence in our financial reporting process, and this certification should reinforce that fact to the investors. TECO Energy has a long history of integrity, which includes full and fair disclosure to investors. Today, we continued that history, through our 10-Q filing and our certifications," said Fagan.

"We’ve had stringent policies and procedures in place for many years to enhance our ability to provide complete and accurate reports. Investors can be confident that our reports accurately depict TECO Energy’s financial position and results of operations," said Gillette.

Additional information related to the company's results through June 30, including unaudited financial statements; segment revenues and operating income; and electric and gas volumes, and the certification statements are available at TECO Energy's web site at
