TECO Energy names new board member
TAMPA, July 27, 2005
Today, TECO Energy announced that Loretta A. Penn has joined its board of directors, effective immediately. Penn is an executive with more than 25 years of experience in sales, senior management and business development. Like other TECO Energy directors, Penn will also serve on the board of the company’s principal subsidiary, Tampa Electric Company.
Chairman and CEO Sherrill Hudson said, “We are excited to have Loretta join our board of directors. Her experience with human resources and information technology was key in her recruitment. She brings a wealth of experience to our board, and we welcome her.”
Hudson added that, as the first African-American woman to serve on TECO Energy’s board, Penn will bring additional diversity to the company’s governing body.
Penn is currently vice president of Global Accounts for Spherion Corporation, provider of staffing, recruiting and consulting services. Penn has worked for Spherion in McLean, Virginia, since 1991, and has served in a variety of executive and senior management positions. She has also served as an officer in other staffing providers, including Temporaries Incorporated. She began her career with IBM Corporation in 1972, where she ultimately rose to management positions in the marketing area. Penn received her bachelor’s degree from North Texas University and a certificate from the Executive Education Program, President's Club, at the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
