TECO Energy publishes Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Report addresses the company’s responsibilities to investors, customers, team members, the community and the environment

TAMPA, May 1, 2007

TECO Energy today released a report outlining its corporate social responsibility efforts. The report details the company’s involvement and engagement with its key stakeholder groups: investors, customers, its team members, the communities in which it operates and the environment.

Chairman and CEO Sherrill Hudson said, “TECO Energy’s vision is to be a company where people want to work, an organization that is an asset to the community and a business in which investors want to invest. We believe that it is entirely possible to balance the competing needs of our key stakeholders, and our more than 5,000 team members are working every day to do just that.”

The report includes the company’s strategic priorities for TECO Energy’s corporate social responsibility, including:

  • The coexistence of social responsibility and shareholder value;
  • A focus on the best service possible to customers, including ensuring reliability now and in the future;
  • Support and involvement in the communities served by the company, through financial contributions, volunteerism, stewardship and emergency management;
  • Commitment to the air, land and water that will be left to the area’s children and grandchildren; and
  • The highest ethical behavior and compliance with all laws and regulations.

In addition, the company has updated its environmental policy in the report, which addresses conventional air emissions, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change.

This document builds on the 2005 environmental report published by TECO Energy’s principal business, Tampa Electric, which details the company’s industry-leading emissions reduction activities. Reporting for 2006 has been expanded to include all five major businesses, and to explain how the company as a whole views and acts on its responsibilities to other key stakeholders of our company.
