Our presence: providing value to the communities we serve

We honor a long-term commitment to the communities we serve. Having grown together for nearly 120 years, our heritage is a shared one.

As a utility, our success depends on the prosperity of the communities we serve. Therefore, investing in and improving our communities is deeply rooted within our company. Our long-term sustainability depends on it.

Our presence is local with an electric utility in the greater Tampa area and natural gas locations across Florida – and it spans three time zones with New Mexico Gas Co. in New Mexico.

We are dedicated to providing dependable energy. We continually strive to provide a better customer experience through improved technology, communication and highly-trained people.

But we go further. We are part of the communities we serve, and we believe it is our responsibility to help make our communities places where people want to live, work and play.

Tampa Electric is casting new light on its commitment to the community. In line with our core value of safety and a commitment to serving our community, Tampa Electric has partnered with the city of Tampa to increase the number of Tampa Electric streetlights in the community by 30 percent. In addition to installing 8,400 new streetlights to make our city's streets safer, Tampa Electric will install 125 LED lights as part of the program. The partnership is enhancing our city and enhancing Tampa Electric's sustainability.

Value of Electricty

For a typical Tampa Electric residential electric customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month, $1 goes a long way. Peoples Gas has the lowest residential base rate among large natural gas distribution companies in Florida, and Tampa Electric's residential rate is the second lowest among investor-owned utilities in the state.
